We’re Specialized in treating kids

Wondering what’s the difference between our regular family dentist and a pediatric dental specialist? Pediatric dentists can be considered the “pediatricians” of dentistry. Simply put, pediatric dentists are specifically trained for and committed to the dental needs of children.

A pediatric dentist has 2-3 years of specialty training following dental school. Because of our specialization, we limit our practice to infants, toddlers, adolescents, and those with special healthcare needs.

Individualized Care and special needs

Children have different dental and behavioral needs than most adults and are not always able to be patient and cooperative during a dental exam. Pediatric dentists are not only specialists in completing pediatric dental procedures but are also very comfortable addressing behavioral problems children sometimes have when visiting the dentist.

Young children, pre-teens, and teenagers all need different approaches in dealing with behavior, guiding their growth and development, and helping them avoid future dental problems. Because our office specializes in treating children, you’ll notice Shawnee Pediatric Dentistry is geared towards helping your child have a positive experience.
